The Emma Marris Pinot Noir 2024 showcases aromas of red fruits and ripe plum that unfold into nuanced hints of graphite, black olive and tobacco. Subtle notes of bramble and porcini add savoury complexity. The palate is structured yet refined, with fruit-driven tannins framing layers of wild berries and well-integrated French oak.

Enjoy with grilled steak bavette and sauce au poivre – this Pinot Noir will enhance the steak’s richness while balancing the bold, peppery flavours of the sauce.

Winemaking

ORIGIN

Leefield Station Vineyard, Waihopai Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand.

FROM THE WINEMAKER

These Pinot Noir grapes came from a selection of clones grown on our Leefield Station Vineyard in the Waihopai Valley. Hand harvested into open top fermenters, a portion of whole bunches were retained for structure and complexity. An initial cold soak encouraged colour development, followed by the onset of a rapid, warm fermentation. Regular hand plunging kept the skins in intimate contact with the fermenting juice, followed by a period of extended maceration post-fermentation to enhance flavour development and tannin integration. The young wines were matured in combination of new and seasoned French oak puncheons for 10 months, with malolactic fermentation occurring as the weather warmed. This wine was blended andbottled in March 2025.

Vintage

VINTAGE

Vintage 2024 will be remembered for being one of Marlborough’s smaller vintages but also for producing exceptional fruit quality. Despite a dry winter and resulting low ground moisture levels, full dams and positive river flows supplied essential soil moisture for the start of the growing season with budburst in mid-September.

Minimal frosts occurred, and though November and December were warm, below-average temperatures potentially contributed to the smaller vintage. From December to February, temperatures rose sharply, accompanied by above-average sunshine and below-average rainfall, leading to drought concerns and an early start to harvest.

Perfect weather aided steady picking from February until mid April, allowing fruit to be picked in perfect condition at peak ripeness delivering consistent levels of concentration and complexity of flavour.

Awards & Accolades

Cameron Douglas MS: 93 Points. "A delicious core of blackcurrant and cherry fleshed scents, a layer of clay and stony soil ideas and dark rose. A plush, ripe and dry wine with a firm youthful texture package with polished tannins and acidity framing the red berry fruits, a seam of lees and earth, some baking spice of vanilla and clove then a perfumed floral finish"
