Emma Marris Chardonnay 2025 is elegant and expressive. Layers of orchard fruit and citrus are complemented by notes of fresh hazelnut and a subtle flinty edge. The generous palate reveals a medley of ripe fruit, underpinned by saline tension that carries through to a focused finish.

Enjoy with spicy peanut chicken noodles.

Winemaking

ORIGIN

Leefield Station Vineyard, Waihopai Valley, Marlborough, New Zealand.

FROM THE WINEMAKER

These Chardonnay grapes came from a selection of clones grown on our Leefield Station Vineyard in the Waihopai Valley. Hand-harvested and whole bunch pressed; the resulting juices were fermented on solids in carefully selected French oak barrels. The young wines were left to mature on full yeast lees for a period of 10 months, with occasional stirring to build palate weight. As the weather warmed in early spring, the barrels were encouraged to go through malolactic fermentation to soften the acidity. This wine was blended and bottled in February 2026.

VINTAGE

One of Marlborough’s larger harvests due to near optimal flowering and fruit set conditions during the final months of 2024.

The 2025 growing season began with budburst under warm, sunny weather, allowing vines to make full use of the ample soil moisture retained from winter and the majority of spring was fortunately frost free.

Throughout the early part of the season, Marlborough experienced warm, sunny, and relatively dry conditions, despite a few intense rain events in late October and again mid to late December. The key summer ripening period continued this pattern of favourable weather– warm, sunny, and dry – even though January ranked among the coolest since 2000.

Harvest commenced under sunny skies in March and concluded a month later.
