Grape & Gravel returned to Leefield Station this year with a day that truly captured the spirit of Marlborough — adventure, camaraderie and our deep connection to the land. What began as a small friends-and-family ride in 2024 is now growing into one of the region’s most exciting new events, welcoming riders of all ages and abilities to our Vineyard Park.
On a perfect (for riding!) Marlborough day, riders took to a course that was fast, challenging and undeniably beautiful. From sweeping vineyard trails to rugged foothill climbs, and the now-iconic spiral on the Village Green, every section offered something to test the legs and thrill the senses.
A Day Powered by Community

The atmosphere throughout the day was unmistakably special. Families cheered from the Village Green, younger riders put in truly awe-inspiring performances, and seasoned racers battled hard on the course — sometimes even turning the ride into their own “race within the race.”
As one of our riders, Peter, told us afterwards:
“The course was fantastic — a really interesting range of surfaces and elevation changes. The atmosphere was great, and it was amazing to see riders of all ages out there giving it a go… I’ll definitely be back next year, and bringing friends.”
We were also incredibly proud of the efforts of our younger competitors, with Matt, our GM of Winemaking and driving force behind the event, sharing:
“The efforts put in by the young people in the main event were at times superhuman… truly impressive.”
Acknowledging Our Sponsors
Grapes & Gravel simply wouldn’t have been possible without the generosity and backing of our Platinum, Gold and Silver sponsors. Their commitment to supporting local events — and their belief in what Grapes & Gravel brings to the Marlborough community — was instrumental in elevating this year’s experience for riders and spectators alike.
We are deeply grateful for their investment, enthusiasm, and partnership in helping us showcase everything that makes Leefield Station and Marlborough so special.

Highlights From the Course
This year’s conditions were hard and fast, producing some blistering lap times. Racing through the shearing shed was a crowd favourite once again, as was the tight spiral finish designed by Aaron Black.

A small timing hiccup meant the bike category podium photo didn’t reflect the true results, so we’re pleased to share the accurate standings below.
